He was predeceased by: his parents, Mervin Allen Carter and Beatrice Aliene Shepard Carter; and his grandchildren, Allan Michael and Brianna Lynn Carter. He is survived by: his wife Patricia "Patty" Asbell Carter; his sons, Nathan Carter (Melissa) and Patrick Carter (Ronni); his granddaughter Emma Carter; and his sisters, Thelma Padgett, Margie Coleman and Wendy Miller (Adrian). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews.
