He was predeceased by: his parents, Kennis Matney and Lou Jane Ashby Matney. He is survived by: his wife Edith Lambert; and his children, Darrin (Michelle), Kristie (Donnell), Angie, Cindy (Allen) and Michael. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, precious family members and lifelong friends.
The military honors was held on Tuesday, November 4th 2025 at 2:30 PM at the Salisbury National Cemetery. A memorial service was held on Tuesday, November 4th 2025 at 5:00 PM at the Word of Truth (1088 E Memorial Hwy, Harmony, NC 28634).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, NC.
