He was predeceased by: his father Ed McBrayer; his wife Reda Faye Bailey Lester; his brothers, Freddie Lester, Gerald Lester and Archie Lester; and his siblings-in-law, Bob Allen, James Lively, Charles "Chuck" Boldin, Addie Lester and Myrtle Lester.

He is survived by: his sons, Kevin Bailey (Stephanie Roark), Greg Bailey (Dana) and Scott Lester (Shawntae); his siblings, Jackie McBrayer (Tonya), Roger Lester (Dorothy), Jean Allen, Jewell Lively and Lynda Boldin; and his grandchildren, Michelle Bailey, Jeremy Leonard, Hailey Brooks, Payton Bailey (Megan), Jayden Bailey, Bryson Lester and Alyssa Lester. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
