He was predeceased by: his daughter Jennifer Johnson; his parents, Melva Barnes Johnson and Tommy David Johnson; his brothers, Ray Johnson and Paul Johnson (Beverly) of California; his daughter-in-law Cindy Johnson; and his brother-in-law Ronald Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Johnson; his sisters, Melva "Faye" Smith and Melaine "Gayle" Braley of Fayetteville, NC; his children, Dean Johnson, Sheila Wells (Mike) and Randy Johnson (Patty); his grandchildren, Brandon Wells (Dana), Andrew Wells (Elizabeth), Shawn Wells (Walter), Sarah Ferguson (Daniel), Hannah Butler, Ryan "Hard Rock" Johnson (Lydia) and Jennifer Johnson; and his great grandchildren, Littie, Silas Wells, Ella and Cooper Wells.
Visitation was held on Sunday, September 6th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at 9700 NC-41, Harrells, NC 28444. A funeral service was held on Sunday, September 6th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Sunday, September 6th 2026 at 4:30 PM at the Sandhill Cemetery.
