He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Freeman and Margret Ada Poplin Freeman; and his siblings, Laura Herlocker (Harvey), Alice Hatley (Henry), Matha Honeycutt (Grady), Chessie Freeman (Hazel), Robert Freeman (Myrtle) and Jason Freeman.

He is survived by: his wife Wilma S. Freeman; his children, Yevone Sherrill (Glen), Glenn Freeman (Cassie), Dale Freeman (Rose), James Freeman (Jacky) and Elaine Brown (Mark); his grandchildren, Tim Freeman (Julie), Scott Freeman (Ananda), Brittiany Kowalski (Chris), Adam Freeman (Bria), Chad Freeman (Melanie), Jessica Freeman, Megan Ocampo (Andrew) and Kristen Brown; his great grandchildren, Sebastian Freeman, Asher Freeman, Shelby Kowalski, Daxley Freeman, Rhys Freeman, Gray Freeman, Ethan Hensley, Eli Hensley, Sophia Ocampo and Caleb Ocampo; and his sister-in-law Flora Freeman of Albemarle.
