He was predeceased by: his father Joel Hiott; his grandson Steven Joel Hiott; and his brother William "Bill" Hiott. He is survived by: his wife Brenda McLendon Hiott of Harrisburg, NC; his sons, Michael Joel Hiott (Amanda) of Monroe, NC and Steven Scott Hiott of Huntersville, NC; his grandchildren, Joshua Michael Hiott and Christin Nicole Hiott; and his brother Samuel "Sam" Hiott of Walterboro, SC. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
