He is survived by: his wife Janet Byrd; his children, Dawn Byrd Humphries (Ken) of Marshallberg and James "Jamie" Byrd Jr. of Morehead City; his stepdaughters, Heather Shearin of Morehead City and Alisha Martinez (Erick) of Fletcher, OK; his sister Jean Byrd Swinson of Morehead City; his grandchildren, Logan Byrd, Taylor Byrd, Jesse Humphries, Samuel Humphries, Deagan Shearin, Catherine Weatherly, Christina Martinez, Emma Martinez and Vincente Martinez; and his great grandchild Camillia Weatherly.
