She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Oakley and Siddie Oakley; her husband Melvin O'Neal Garner, Sr.; and her son Melvin O'Neal Garner, Jr.. She is survived by: her children, Peggie Lou Garner of Sneads Ferry and Ashley Garner (Gail) of Newport; her daughter-in-law Lilli Garner of Newport; her sisters, Mary Deans of Nashville, NC and Barbara Nichols of Sneads Ferry; her close friend Kay Robinson of Havelock; and her grandchildren, Donovan Garner, Daniel Garner, Amanda Lynn Hibbs and Amanda Jean Wright. She is also survived by several great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

In keeping with the CDC guidelines pertaining to the Coronavirus, those who are ill or at-risk (elderly, immune-compromised) are encouraged to stay home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Cherry Point United Methodist Church at 103 Methodist Drive Havelock NC, 28532.
