We announce the death of John W. Benedict Sr. of Havelock, North Carolina, who passed away on September 25, 2026, at the age of 79. He was predeceased by: his parent Shirley June Lutz; and his brother David Benedict. He is survived by: his father Ralph Clarence Benedict; his wife Lillian; his children, Kimberly Shaw of Morehead City, NC, Heather Unruh of Havelock, NC, Rachel Benedict of Newport, NC and John Benedict, Jr. (Jenny) of Mesa, AZ; his sisters, Carol Sedlow and Cathy Lonesberry of Pheonix, AZ; and his grandchildren, Jennifer Griggs, Victoria Harris, Sarah Benedict, Garrett Backus, Sarah Furiosi and Brendan Millette. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 at 5:00 PM at the Freedom Baptist Church (600 Lake Rd, Havelock, NC 28532).
