We are sad to announce that on October 28, 2025, at the age of 93, Melva Lee Gooding of Havelock, North Carolina passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her grandmother Gigi; her parents, Robert Spann and Nancy Spann; her siblings, Erma Silence, Marion Spann of Lathan Spann, A. V and Jimmy Spann; and her former husband Willie "Jack" Franklin Griffin.
She is survived by: her daughters, Donna Griffin Goodman of Swansboro, NC, Ava Denise Jackson (Jerry) of Havelock, NC and Jackie Johnson (Chris) of Havelock, NC; her grandchildren, Jeremy Jackson (Sara) of Beaufort, NC, Danielle Banks Collins of Maysville, NC, Jerica Bell (Jon) of Morehead City, NC, Christopher Johnson (Savannah Avila) of Victoria, TX and Griffin "Chaise" Johnson (Alyssa Williams) of Havelock, NC; her great grandchildren, Austin Ray Collins of Maysville, NC, Jacob Jackson of Beaufort, NC, Jenna Jackson of Beaufort, NC and Jackson Bell; her great great grandchild Carson Ray Collins of Maysville, NC; her pets, Thorin, Hannah and Noelle; and her caregiver Jennifer Garner.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 2nd 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Munden Funeral Home & Crematory (2112 Arendell St, Morehead City, NC 28557). A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 3rd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Trenton Municipal Cemetery.
