With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Usmc MgySgt Scott Menger of Havelock, North Carolina, who passed away on June 23, 2025 at the age of 76. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Laverne William Menger and Dolores Pendowski (Menger); his son Andrew Maness; his stepfather Stanley Pendowski; and his brother Mark Pendowski.

He is survived by: his wife Diane; his children, Sheri Menger Mitchell of Havelock, NC, Stanley Menger of Havelock, NC, Terry Menger of Havelock, NC and Brian Maness (Beth) of Morehead City, NC; his sisters, Deb Tieman of Pewaukee, WI and Lori Schneider of Calabash, NC; his grandchildren, Amber Mitchell, Nathan Mitchell, Lillie Maness and Levi Maness; and his great grandchildren, Izaiah Mitchell and Aubree Mitchell.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 222 S. Riverside Plaza, Suite 1500, Chicago, IL 60606.

We crossed paths occasionally in the interim years, but I remember fondly the year at Camp Schwab. Scott was always an absolute gentleman, a mentor, and leader. A true professional with a calm demeanor and a great sense of humor. The world was a better place with him in it, and it’s a lesser place today without him. Semper Fi, Master Gunny.”
