He was predeceased by: his parents, Callie Dean Pugh Puryear and Melva Carol Parrish Puryear; his stepdaughter Wendy Michele Justice; and his half-siblings, Karen Puryear and John Peyton Puryear, Jr..
He is survived by: his stepson Walter Shane Adams (Jennifer); and his granddaughters, Abby Lea Adams and Carly Rae Adams.
