He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude Smith and Frances Harris Smith; and his sisters, Brenda Smith, Barbara Smith and Diane Sweat.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Wood Smith of Tucker, Georgia; his children, Sandy Smith (Jeannie) of Gainesville, Chad Smith of Flintville, Delaine Hite (Brett) of Greenville and Trent Plott (Brooke) of Buford, Georgia; and his sister Donna Wilson (Lee) of Dawsonville, Georgia. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren; four great grandchildren.
