We announce the death of Eulene McDowell of Hayesville, North Carolina, who passed away on August 21, 2026, at the age of 95. Eulene will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Carl "Doc" Ledford and Gertrude Canup Ledford; her husband Henry McDowell; her son Stephen McDowell; and her siblings, Elford Ledford, Giles Ledford and Doris Wiliams.
She is survived by: her children, Judy (Frank Roe), Ronald C. McDowell (Debbie) of Heiskell, TN and Dennis McDowell (Regina Anderson) of Hayesville, NC; her grandchildren, Maggie Martin, Nathan McDowell, Courtney English (Ben English), Preston McDowell and Eric McDowell; her great grandchildren, Linus, Veda Martin, Peyton Maney, Delaney English and Reese English; and her close friends, Teresa Coffey and Eve Cox.
A reception was held on Wednesday, August 26th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Ivie Funeral Home (67 NC-69, Hayesville, NC 28904). A graveside service was held on Wednesday, August 26th 2026 at the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery (366 Carter Cove Rd, Hayesville, NC 28904).
