He was predeceased by : his parents, Donald Cotton and Betty Ludgenbell Cotton; his former life partner Barbara Legg; his granddaughters, Katrina Clarkson and Elysabeth Winberry; and his siblings, Chrysta Cotton and Charles "Chick" Cotton.

He is survived by : his wife Katie Owens Cotton of Blairsville; his daughter Leslie; his son-in-law Rob Clarkson of Plainfield, IN.; his son Brian; his daughter-in-law Pam Dockery of Palaski, TN.; and his grandchildren, Erica, Jessie, Chrysti Winberry, Alexis, Daulton, Sarena Clarkson, Blane Dockery (Buford McMasters) and Taylor Keith. He is also survived by sixteen great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends.
