He was predeceased by: his parents, Dewitt Talmage and Ethel Ruth Sparks Mayfield; and his son Terry Gene Mayfield. He is survived by: his wife Shirley Callahan Mayfield; and his children, Paul Mayfield, Jr. (Jimmie) of Knoxville, TN, Tommy Mayfield (Dianne) of Hayesville and Mary Matheson (Buddy) of Hayesville. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and seven great great grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on Sunday, November 9th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the First Free Will Baptist Church (73 Hiawassee St, Hayesville, NC 28904).
