He was predeceased by: his parents, Demilin Cothren and Eva Ledford Cothren; his former wife Aleen Allison Cothren; and his siblings, Douglas Cothren, Terri Villa Mae Ex, Lou Ellen Stalcupp, Lillie Mae Lancaster, Margaret Franklin and Sarah Jane Stalcupp.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Pope Mull; his daughters, Melissa Carver and Lavonda McCandless (Larry); and his stepchildren, Teresa Ashe, James Panter and Scotty Mull. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and seven great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 25th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Pilgrim Baptist Church (73 Hiawassee St, Hayesville, NC 28904). A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 25th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
