He was predeceased by: his parents, James Monroe and Clara Osborne Bates; and his siblings, Randy Bates, Danny Osborne, Michelle Bates and Jamie Bates.
He is survived by: his spouse Robin St. John of Elkin; his sister Sonya Pardue (Timothy) of Hamptonville; and his niece Whitney Bates of Traphill, Several. He is also survived by Several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to assist with funeral expenses.
