He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph McKinley and Nancy Elmira Sidden Hanks; and his son Michael Hanks. He is survived by: his wife Nell Alexander Hanks; his children, Julie Swaim (Lee) of Sunset Beach, NC, Patricia Dvorak (Jim) of Hays and David Hanks (Debbie) of Hays; his grandchildren, Cindy Swaim, Amanda Sanchez and Courtney Dvorak; and his great grandchildren, Ava Sanchez, Ella Sanchez and Joshua Dvorak.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 5th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home (270 Armory Rd, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 6th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Springfield Baptist Church (3960 Cabin Creek Rd, Hays, NC 28635). A burial will be held on Wednesday, August 6th 2025 at the Mountlawn Memorial Park (196 Fan Key Rd, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659).
