He is survived by: his wife Tonie Pennell Shumate; his sons, Richard Shumate (Loretta) of Hays and Scott Shumate (Sherry) of Wilson; his grandchildren, Timothy Shumate, Angel Ericksen, Lydia Higgins, Issac Shumate, Hannah Shumate, Caleb Shumate, Sarah Shaneyfelt, Koré Shumate and Gabriel Shumate; his great grandchildren, Saiorse Ericksen, Lily Shumate, Holland Shaneyfelt and Savannah Shaneyfelt; and his siblings, Gail Shumate-Eller of Jefferson, Diane Blevins (Garry) of Lansing, Kay Shumate Bening of Addieville, IL, Rex Shumate of McGrady, Ronnie Shumate (Betty) of McGrady, Rev. Donnie Shumate (Kay) of McGrady, Ray Shumate (Gail) of North Wilkesboro and Bobby Shumate (LeAnn) of Hays.
