With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Douglas Smith (Henderson, North Carolina), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on May 16, 2026 at the age of 87. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilma Tharrington Smith and Atlas Smith; and his siblings, Violet Dorsey, James Smith and Atlas C. (Smith).
He is survived by: his wife Betty Garrett Smith; and his sister Faye Burnette of Franklin County.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 19th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the White Funeral Home Chapel (60 Zeb Robinson Rd, Henderson, NC 27536). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 19th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to North Henderson Baptist Church, 1211 North Garnett Street, Henderson, NC 27536.
