He is survived by: his wife Linda Pendergrass Barker; his stepchildren, Lisa R Nelson (Jesse), Danny R Robertson Jr., Rev. Jeff Prewer (Joyce) and Wayne Prewer (Melissa); his grandchildren, Joshua Prewer (Paola), Jesse Nelson IV (Kisha), Cooper Nelson, Lily Robertson, Danny "Trey" Robertson III, Heather Prewer and Marshal Wayne Prewer; his siblings, Barbara Smithson, Francis Curtis (Randy), Thurston Barker (Bernice) and Charlie Barker (Carol); his close friend Wade Ayscue; and his friends, Frankie Lawson, Billy Jo Lawson, Randy King, Leroy Patterson, Casey Orr and Harry Orr. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Freedom Life Church of God (1001 Martin Creek Rd, Henderson, NC 27537). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 at the Sunset Gardens (3174 US-158 BUS, Henderson, NC 27537).
