He was predeceased by: his parents, James Perry Pernell and Sarah Joan Briggs Pernell; and his daughter Lauren Roberson. He is survived by: his wife Jane Pearce Pernell; his children, Linda Jo Taylor (Travis), Mandy Boykin, Caitlen Edge (Mark), Alyssa Roberson Pernell and Jackson Hughes (Vanessa); his grandchildren, Jonathan Boykin, Hannah Hypes, Jillian Taylor, Silas Taylor, Elizabeth Edge, John Edge, Jada Hughes, Jacob Hughes, Taylor Hughes and Sydney Allen; his great grandchildren, Emory Smith and Caden Pollock; and his brothers, Dale Pernell (Teresa) and Clay Pernell (Ronna). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and other extended family.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 18th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church (905 Americal Rd, Henderson, NC 27537). A funeral service was held on Thursday, September 18th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, September 18th 2025 at the Sunset Gardens (3174 US-158 BUS, Henderson, NC 27536).
