We announce the death of Janet Hoyle Slaughter of Henderson, North Carolina, who passed away on July 18, 2026, at the age of 75. Janet will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her father William Hundley Hoyle; her sister Nancy Hoyle Jones; and her former husband Charles Badger Stallings. She is survived by: her mother Cornelia Williamson Walker Hoyle; her husband Sherby G. Slaughter; her son Chase Hoyle Stallings (Joy); her grandchildren, Catherine Hope Stallings (Lance), Lauren Hodges (Brian) and Hundley Chase Stallings; her great grandchildren, Patrick Hodges and Allie Gray Hodges; her stepdaughter Shelley Slaughter Holden (David); her stepgranddaughters, Joanna Caroline Holden and Libby Alys Holden; and her friends, Roger Wilson, Brian Mosley, John Soles, Thomas Shaw, Gordon Wilder, Vernon Mustian, Tim Hunter, Ronald Bennett and Larry Parker.
