He was predeceased by: his parents, James McElree Capps and Clara Geneva Wyche Capps; his daughter Donna K Capps; and his siblings, Edna Sanders, Cecil Capps and Conly Capps.
He is survived by: his wife Mattie Sue Hayes Capps; his children, Regina C Faulkner (David), Letha C Cawthorne (Glenn) and John L Capps Jr. (Donna); his grandchildren, Landa Sue, Lee Capps (Daniell), Ben Capps, Callie Faulkner (Hunter) and Houston Cash (Shayla); his great grandchildren, Mason Capps, Madison Capps, Waylon Capps, Holden Cash, Hayden Cash and Liam Satterwhite; and his siblings, Louise Straney, Jerry Capps (Cynthia) and Julian Capps (Kay). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
