We are sad to announce that, on October 3, 2021, at the age of 84, John Henry Hope (Henderson, North Carolina) passed away. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of John Henry Hope to pay them a last tribute.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie P. Hope and Alice Hope King; his brothers, L. Taylor Hope, Willie P. "June" Hope Jr. and James A. "Duck" Hope; and his son Leon Q. Hedgepeth.

He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Stanley Hope; his sons, Todd H. Hope of Kittrell, David S. Hope of Henderson and Timothy G. Hedgepeth of Henderson; his sister Mary Ann Rivers of Townsville; his grandchildren, Abby Hope, Anna Hope, Katie Hope, Jason Hope, Amber Hope, Leigh Anne Powell (Al), Amy Radford (Kevin) and Joseph Hedgepeth; and his daughters-in-law, Leigh Anne Hope, Kathy Hedgepeth and Carol C. Hedgepeth. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Due to COVID-19 concerns, those planning to attend the service are asked to adhere to all CDC guidelines regarding masks and social distancing.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church John loved so dearly; White Memorial United Methodist Church, P.O Box 702, Henderson, NC 27536.

I remember him singing in the choir and sitting in the pew every Sunday with his beloved Dot. My condolences to his family as they mourn his passing. He was a good man and a quiet soul. I was privileged to serve as his pastor and call him a friend.”
