He is survived by: his wife Betsy Powell Manning; his children, Rebecca Shaw Gurganus (Anthony), Susan Jeanne Burns, Joseph Thomas Manning Jr. (Tammy), Gregory Blake Manning (Lisa) and Anthony Wayne Manning; his stepdaughter Susan McMillan; and his grandchildren, Brandon Thomas Manning, Megan Renee Manning, Gage Thomas Manning, Ashley Nicole Currin, Joshua Logan Currin, Tabitha Renee Currin (Steven), Blake Manning II, Abigale Kay Manning, Dalton Robert Gurganus, Avery Watson Gurganus and Adrian McMillan. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren; and two brothers.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, September 5th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Sossamon Funeral Home (1833 Oxford Rd, Henderson, NC 27536).
