It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joyce Eason Thornton of Henderson, North Carolina, who passed away on May 2, 2023, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Mozelle Creech Eason and James Edward Eason; her children, Michael Dean Thornton and Carla Deanne Thornton Cissell; and her siblings, Joe Eason, David Eason, Lolita Godwin, Shirley Parker and Judy Buffkin.
She is survived by: her husband Lloyd Dean Thornton; her son Kevin Scott Thornton of Durham; and her sisters, Genell Sugrue of Johnston, RI, Wanda Langon of Dunn and Jennifer Ferrell of Stedman. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
