He was predeceased by: his parents, Leo C. Burlett and Mildred S. Burlett; his brother Doug Burlett; his father-in-law Ellis Molton; and his brother-in-law Donny Molton.

He is survived by: his wife Marcie Molton Burlett; his son Richie Burlett (Christie); his grandchildren, Aidan and Molly Burlett; his siblings, Leo Burlett (Mary), John Burlett (Jennifer) and Cindy Burlett Ricker; his mother-in-law Marceline Molton; and his brothers-in-law, Randy Molton (Lee), Rusty Molton (Dory), Wendell Molton and Howard Molton (Barbara). He is also survived by 50 nieces and nephews, many cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hendersonville High School Alumni Association in David's memory.
