He was predeceased by: his parents, Alexander Lance and Edith Merrell Lance; his wife Mary Pruett Lance; and his siblings, Lla Leet Hudson, Waynell Bordeaux and Carroll Lance.

He is survived by: his children, Mark Lance (Joanna) of Mebane, NC, Travis Lance (Amanda) of Hickory, NC and Tracey Jenkins (Kenny) of Hendersonville, NC; his grandchildren, Ayla Lance, Colin Lance, Korbyn Lance, Maggie Lance and Jaxson Lance; and his great grandchildren, Zaylan Gilliland and Alice Lance.
