He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Dorothy Donelson; his mother Anna Parsons; his stepfather Joe Gibbons; his children, Eric Donelson (Denelle Cooke), Jamie Donelson, Emily Wilczynski (Wojtek Wilczynski) and Shannon Brannan (Robert Brannan); and his sister Nancy Lykus (Paul Lykus).

Memorial donations may be made to two organizations close to Jim's heart.
