He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer H. Bertke and Elizabeth L. "Betty" Bertke (Steinbrunner); his brother-in-law David Samek; Susan Guthridge. He is survived by: his wife Jane; his son Eric; his daughter-in-law Melissa Bertke; his granddaughter Kennedy Bertke of Spring Hill; his sister Mary Evelyn Sudhoff of Celina; his brother-in-law Bob Guthridge of Cocoa Beach; Ann Samek of Mobile. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Memorial Contributions in John's memory may be made to any animal rescue group, or the Humane Society.
