She was predeceased by: her parents, Harry Nurney Russell and Ida Mae White Russell; her son Thomas Mitchell Phillips; and her siblings, Eva Layden, Margaret Trombley and Harry R. "Buddy" Russell.
She is survived by: her husband Jack Phillips; her sons, David Phillips of Hertford and Rev. Wallace Phillips (Joy) of Edenton; and her sister Ivy Phillips (Charles) of Hertford. She is also survived by five grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 23rd 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home (1125 Harvey Point Rd, Hertford, NC 27944). A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 23rd 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Cedarwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge in Greenville, NC.
