He was predeceased by: his parents, Benjamin Octavius Owens and Marie Forehand Owens Anderson; his wife Leigh Williams Owens; his daughter Tammy Dobie Owens; his sister Lois Jenkins; his sister-in-law Betty Lou Owens; and his stepfather Herbert Anderson.
He is survived by: his siblings, Wanda Cullipher (Donald) of Windsor, Billy Owens of Edenton and Martin Owens (Deborah) of Hertford; and his brother-in-law Billy Jenkins of Hickory. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
