He was predeceased by : his parents, Leonard B. Spruill and Maggie Sawyer "Bobby" Spruill; his sisters, Sybil Jennings, Faye Swails and Helen Furlough; and his former life partner Janet Oliver Spruill.
He is survived by : his wife Alice White-Spruill; his children, Rhonda Spruill Kettenring (Keith) of Chattanooga, TN and Mark Steven Spruill (Faye) of Portsmouth; his stepdaughter Karen Bunch of Winston-Salem, NC; his grandchildren, Nathanael Kettenring, Jenna Hazelet (Brian), Jessica Spruill Chinnici, Tucker Spruill, Evan Norris and Adam Norris (Kayla); and his great grandchildren, Wesley, Sophie and Grayson. He is also survived by three nieces, four nephews, and other extended family.
