He was predeceased by: his parents, Freeland M. Copeland and Ibbie Perry Copeland; his wife Christine Harrell Copeland; his grandson Elliott L. Copeland; and his siblings, Parker Copeland, Mildred C. Jenkins and Elizabeth E. Winslow.
He is survived by: his son Anthony M. Copeland; and his grandson Simon L. Copeland of Raleigh.
