Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Alfred Shade of Hickory, North Carolina, born in Catawba, North Carolina, who passed away at the age of 68, on February 9, 2021. He was predeceased by: his parents, Dwight Shade and Bertie Ross Shade; his daughter Simeka Surratt; and his siblings, Robert S. Shade, Norman E. Shade, Dorothy Shade Pope and Bernice Gore.

He is survived by: his children, Roderick, Terrence and Johnna; and his siblings, Dwight Shade Jr. (Barbara), Jimmy Shade (Sandra), Howard Shade (Teresa), Betty Wilson (Tommy) of Hickory and Dynetta Shade of Hickory. He is also survived by ten grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carolina Caring Hospice.
