He is survived by: his wife Debra Stephens Shell; his children, Devon Shell Payne (Keith) and Adam Walter Shell (Ashley); his grandchildren, Madison, Braedon, Troy, Asher and Henry; his sisters, Clara Lynch and Catherine Hague; and his sister-in-law Pamela Shell-Polerstock.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 1st 2026 at 3:00 PM at the Bass-Smith Funeral Home Chapel (334 2nd St NW, Hickory, NC 28601).
