He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Beryl Palmer Smith and Reg Smith; his wife Laura A. Smith; his son Brad Buff (Teasua) of Hickory; his grandchildren, Claire Buff, Alex Buff, Bentley Buff, Brent Oxendine and Dalton Oxendine; his siblings, Lesley Turpin of Greenville, SC and Philip J. Smith of China Grove, NC; his brother-in-law Charlie Bivens of Rutherford County; and his nieces, Caroline Turpin (Sumner Allison) and Sarah Turpin.
