He was predeceased by: his parents, Noah Young and Cora Young; his wife Laura Edith Young; his son Arnold Shuford Jr.; and his siblings, Mary Lou, Viola, Gladys, Ruby, Darrell, Harley and Tony.

He is survived by: his daughters, Debbie Alexander and Lena Morgan. He is also survived by five grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
