He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde Banks Black, Jr. and Minnie Beatrice Bateman Black. He is survived by: his wife Betty Gillis Black of Hickory, NC; his brother Gerald Black, Jr. of Charlotte, NC; his daughters, Carla Chandler (Lane) of Connelly Springs, NC and Cara Ham (Kris) of Conover, NC; and his grandchildren, Brandy Brittain (Justin), Justin Chandler (Lauren), Dustin Chandler (Taylor), Alex Ham (Felicity), Brandon Ham (Stephanie) and Cody Ham (Shelby). He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 27th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Watson-King Funeral Home - Rockingham (306 E Franklin St, Rockingham, NC 28380). A celebration of life will be held on Friday, June 27th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Kidney Foundation, The Heart Foundation, and Trinity Village of Hickory.
