He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Saunders Baker, Jr. and Lillian Hutchinson Weaver Baker; his wife Dorothea Elizabeth Baker; and his sister Charlotte Bond. He is survived by: his children, William W. Baker (Patsie), Alan C. Baker (Barbara) and Janet B. Hassing (Finn); and his brother-in-law Elwood Bond. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to New Jerusalem Lutheran Church, 2120 Startown Road, Hickory, NC 28602.
