He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Childers and Margaret Brooks Childers; his grandparents, Rev. D. J. Brooks and Nokie Detter Brooks; his siblings, Danny Ray Childers and Jeanie Childers Curtis; his uncle Ronnie Dean Brooks; and his cousin Pamela Reid Poovey.
He is survived by: his aunts, Betty Brooks Reid and Peggy Sue Brooks; his cousins, Tracey "Lynn" Brooks Warner, Jeremy Seth Brooks, Vicky Reid Ester, Shirley Reid Estes and Linda Buckner Dale; and also, David Stephens, Mark Denton, Kendal Teague, Robby Speagle, Steve Hildebran, Kesha Rhinehart and Mike Abernathy.
