He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Eugene and Joyce Weikel; his sisters, Wanda and Kathy; his daughter Cassie (Keaton); and his grandsons, Beau and Brooks.

In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund will be set up for his grandsons, Beau and Brooks so they can continue the legacy of being a lifelong learner. A memorial contribution will be set up in his honor.
