He was predeceased by: his parents, James Garvin Mitchell and Althea Riggs Mitchell. He is survived by: his brother Roger Maxey (Sig Ep); his wife Kay Mitchell; his children, Endia Mitchell Plunkett (Andrew) of Charleston, SC, Zachary Mitchell of Hickory and Bradley Sherrill (Christie Phillips) of Hickory; his grandsons, Andreas Plunkett, Navarro Plunkett and Payce Sherrill; his sister Ann Teague of Hickory; and his nephew Scott Cloninger (Ashley) of New Mexico.
