It is with great sadness that we announce the death of David Jay Wellington Reynolds of Hickory, North Carolina, who passed away on May 8, 2026, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. As we bid adieu to David's earthly form, let us not dwell on the void left in his wake, but rather celebrate the legacy of love and inspiration David has bequeathed us. For though he may have departed from our sight, his spirit remains a timeless beacon, guiding loved ones through the labyrinth of life's journey.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Pearle Daniel Reynolds and Bonnie Silver Reynolds; and his former wife Sharon Berry Reynolds. He is survived by: his wife Cheryl Nodine Reynolds; his children, Kenneth Reynolds (Mariah) of Fernandina Beach and Tracy Reynolds Gutkowski (Mike) of Hickory; and his stepchildren, Steve Poteat (Debbie) of Marion, Scott Poteat of Greensboro and Susan Shamoun (Paul) of Tallahassee.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial donations be made in David's memory to Catawba Regional Hospice, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 28658.
