He is survived by: his wife Nancy Townsend Cox; his son David Ryan Cox (Candace) of Hickory; his sister Brenda McDowell (Charles); his nephew Chuck McDowell (Becky) of Charleston, SC; his son-in-law Damon Stanley (Carlette) of Burgaw; his grandchildren, Caroline Cox of Hickory, Emily Cox of Hickory, Jessica Stanley of Wilmington and Jeremy Stanley (Hunter) of Kentucky; his great grandchild Magnolia Stanley of Kentucky; and his caregivers, Dawn, Shirley, Kyle, Sherry, Carolina Caring, Kristen and Rutha.
