He was predeceased by: his parents, E. L. Cooper (Roy) and Edna Cooper; and his brothers, Louis Reed and Billy. He is survived by: his wife Doris "Doe"; his children, Candace Brown (Keith) and Mark Cooper (Cindy); and his grandchildren, Matthew Childers (Kayla), Christina Nix (Danny), Sean Cooper and Emily Cooper.
A memorial service was held on Sunday, September 6th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church (237 2nd St NW, Hickory, NC 28601).
