We announce the death of Doris Aileen Hughes of Hickory, North Carolina, who passed away on June 18, 2026, at the age of 92. Doris will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Claude Jennings Young and Vonnie Mae Biggerstaff Young; her husband Harold Dean Hughes; and her sister Elva Young Boyd. She is survived by: her children, Larry Dean Hughes (Nancy) and Rebecca H. Hardy (Charles); her brother Ron Young (Ann Harkey); and her grandchildren, Erin H. Cox (Ryan), Megan H. Kilby (Brent), Dr. Samuel K. Hughes (Elizabeth), Nicole H. Simmons (Taylor) and Rachel H. Johnson (Avery). She is also survived by six great grandchildren.
