He was predeceased by: his father Robert McCree Lail; his wife Betty Jean Lail; his son Rusty Allen Lail; and his brothers, Harold, Glenn and Clyde Lail.

He is survived by: his daughter Pam Huffman (Ronnie) of Newton; his grandchildren, Jessica Harwell (Nathan) of Holly Springs and Jonathan Huffman of Hickory; and his great grandchild Amelie Harwell. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
